Hi there!
Here´s our story
Originally from Dublin, Ireland, I studied food science & technology at UCC in Cork and moved to Sweden in 1995 where I worked at the national food administration (Livsmedelsverket) in Uppsala. At that time I also met my wife Elisabeth who was studying law at Uppsala university and shortly after we got married. The following years I worked as an analytical chemist in the pharmaceutical industry and a family man with Elisabeth & our 3 daughters.
Hospitality is in my Irish blood; my granny Brownlee (on my mums side) had a bed & breakfast and loved having guests and this love was passed on to my mum, my sister & brother and even some of my Canadian cousins. In thoughs early days I often found myself in the kitchen baking and making food which I gladly served to friends and family who were appreciative of what I made. The highlight every year was the Irish christmas dinner which I spent most of christmas day making. This worked well as the Swedish alternative is eaten on the christmas eve.
In 2016 Elisabeth and myself decided to move to Orsa. The Christian cooperative was looking for someone to run the six houses they owned and we both needed to break with the hectic city life of Uppsala.
In 2017 we started the work running Trunna Hostel & Conference. Serving food, cleaning rooms, & welcoming guests from all four corners of the world. The old style buildings of Trunna are a pleasure to work in and appreciated by many who have stayed with us. The surrounding countryside with wild forests, rivers and lakes have proven to be a popular destination for both scandinavian and foreign guests. Together with the Trunnagården cooperative we work to make Trunna a great place to stay!
We look forward to welcoming you to our story!
